HIMA World Organization

Who We Are
The HIMA World Organization is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing martial arts education, wellness, and community engagement across the United States and beyond.

Our mission is to inspire and empower individuals of all ages by promoting physical, mental, and spiritual growth through martial arts and mindfulness, while serving the greater good of humanity.
We strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where individuals from all backgrounds can learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Through the teachings of martial arts, we are committed to fostering a strong sense of community, personal development, and overall wellness.
Core Values
Annual Martial Arts Festivals and Tournaments
We will host annual festivals and tournaments, including the Hong Ik Martial Arts Festival (HIMAF), a cornerstone event for over a decade. HIMAF brings martial artists together to compete in forms, board breaking, and sparring, with performances by the HIMA Demo Team and demonstrations from Masters. A portion of the proceeds will support the nonprofit's mission. Our goal is to promote camaraderie, respect, and excellence, enriching the experience for all participants and spectators.

Community Outreach in Schools
We are committed to introducing martial arts to local public and private schools. Through demonstrations, workshops, and educational programs, we aim to instill discipline, respect, and perseverance in young people, while enhancing their physical and mental well-being.

Support for Seniors Through TaiChi-Qigong, and Meditation
Recognizing the physical and mental health benefits of martial arts for individuals of all ages, we’ll offer TaiChi-Qigong, meditation, and stretching programs for senior communities. These practices help improve flexibility, mobility, and mental clarity, while promoting relaxation and overall health, supporting active and healthy aging.

Support for Children’s Charities
In alignment with our commitment to the community, we support children’s charities that share our values. Through fundraising, donations, and partnerships, we aim to make a meaningful impact by providing underserved children with opportunities that foster
growth, learning, and resilience.

Scholarships for Dedicated Students in Need
Partial scholarships may be awarded to HIMA students facing financial challenges or unique circumstances. These scholarships recognize students who demonstrate strong commitment to their studies and martial arts principles (respect, humility, perseverance, self-control, honesty), helping them overcome financial barriers to continue their education.
